From the rebel scene of Abya Yala to the streets of Europe, Masta Quba conquers the Soundroutes project stage as the artist selected for the international call dedicated to women in rap.
A Mexican MC and composer, migrant, hip hop activist and educator with more than 17 years of militancy, Masta Quba brings with her a voice that does not discount: brown feminism, anti-racism, anti-colonialism, human rights and collective healing. Her music is political medicine, living memory, sonic resistance.
What’s next for her?
A 4-stage European tour: Rome, Seville, Ghent and Chios Island.
Participation in our collaborative album with artistə from all over Europe.
Access to online music industry course and international training bootcamps.
Masta Quba has taken hip hop inside women’s prisons in Mexico, created collective healing workshops for women and dissident subjectivities, and resonated in festivals, schools, self-managed spaces from Mexico to Catalonia.
🎧 Her single “Nosotras tenemos Otros Datos” became a feminist anthem during the pandemic, and her songs are part of the soundtrack to series such as “Desenfrenadas” and “La flor más bella” on Netflix and “Señorita 89” on Universal.
With its victory, Soundroutes reaffirms a simple and powerful idea: hip hop is not just music, it is taking a stand, it is struggle, it is community.
