Hip hop was born on the streets — but it never stays there.
It grows, travels, crosses borders, and returns to the neighbourhoods where it all began, bringing with it new words, new sounds, new struggles.
This is the spirit of Soundroutes, the European project that is connecting young hip hop artists and professionals in a journey of training, creation and social justice.
On 21 February 2025, at 3 p.m. at ÀP – Antimafia Pop Academy (Viale Palmiro Togliatti 76, Rome), “Hip-Hop: From the Streets, For the Streets” will take place, a meeting-workshop dedicated to those who experience urban culture as a tool for change.
An afternoon of dialogue, music and artistic practice that will bring together MCs, B-girls, producers and writers to share visions and practices of hip hop that speaks of resistance, community and the future.
The meeting will be moderated by ÀP, with contributions from:
🎤 Dans La Rue – a street art collective engaged in art and social activism
🎙️ Luca “Militant A” Mascini – rapper and writer, historic voice of Italian militant hip hop
💃 Elisa “Saiko” Ciprianetti – B-girl, trainer and promoter of educational practices through urban dance
During the meeting, the Soundroutes workshops will be presented, a project that combines artistic training and political engagement, with the aim of bringing out new voices from the grassroots.
Participants will be able to hone their skills — from writing to production, from freestyle to graffiti — and, above all, join an international network of artists who use hip hop culture to talk about social, climate and gender justice.
🌍 Some of the participants will have the opportunity to fly to Belgium, Spain, Greece or Italy for the Soundroutes international bootcamps, collaborating with artists from all over Europe and bringing their creations to a shared stage.
🎶 The best tracks produced during the programme will be included in a collective European album, a mosaic of voices, languages and beats that showcase the new generation of committed hip hop artists.
