A School Called Tribe: A Co-Creation and Cross-Over Haven for Hip Hop Artists
In the vibrant world of Hip Hop, where creativity knows no bounds, a new initiative is set to revolutionize the way artists hone their craft. Enter Tribe School, an intensive 5-day co-creation program dedicated to empowering Hip Hop musicians across Spain, Italy, and Belgium. With a fusion of talent, culture, and innovation, Tribe School is poised to become the ultimate incubator for new talents and seasoned professionals alike.
Organized by A Sud, De Vergunning in collaboration with Graffiti and Marmaduke, Tribe School is not just another music workshop; it’s a melting pot of ideas, inspirations, and collaborations. The program aims to bring together 45 participants from the three countries, with 15 artists representing each nation.
Co-creation and cross-over experimentation
The heartbeat of Tribe School lies in its commitment to co-creation and cross-over experimentation. Over the course of five intense days, participants will engage in a whirlwind of activities designed to push the boundaries of Hip Hop music. From workshops and skill-sharing sessions to collaborative jam sessions, every moment is an opportunity for growth and exploration.
At the core of Tribe School’s ethos is the belief in the power of diversity. By inviting three high-level musicians from partner countries, the program fosters a multicultural environment where artists can learn from each other and draw inspiration from different perspectives. These co-creation sessions are the breeding ground for experimental productions that challenge traditional norms and pave the way for innovative new sounds.
One of the key objectives of Tribe School is to strengthen the use of live instrumentation in Hip Hop music. By encouraging participants to explore the fusion of genres and incorporate live elements into their work, the program aims to elevate the art form to new heights. From live drums to soulful saxophone solos, the possibilities are endless.
But Tribe School isn’t just about music; it’s about empowerment and inclusivity. With a commitment to gender equality, the program strives to ensure the highest possible participation of women, with a baseline of 30% and a target of 50%. By providing a platform for female artists to shine, Tribe School is breaking down barriers and paving the way for a more inclusive music industry.
