The Soundroutes Band
We are deligthed to introduce you the Soundroutes band, a brandnew ensamble that will work on a repertoire that will be presented in the Bologna Jazz Festival 2018 and in the Werkstaat Der Kulturen in Berlin. The band will work under the artistic direction of Guglielmo Pagnozzi and will meet in Berlin between 8th and 15th of January for the first music residency.
Guglielmo Pagnozzi (Jazzdog) is a virtuoisic musicians playing Clarinet and Sax. He’s a composer and arranger, active in the Jazz scene since the early ’90.
He played with many artists in Italy, Europe, United States and Africa, among them: Lester Bowie, Famoudu Don Moye, Steve Lacy, Ernst

Violinist and composer, born in Homs, Syria 1982, currently living and working in Belgium. Holds a music-performing bachelor from the High Music Institute in Damascus, violin class of professor Evgueny Loguenov 2007. Composed music to be played by several orchestras over the world: WDR Radio Orchestra, SEPO, EPO, The National Syrian Arabic Orchestra, Violet and others. Trained as a classical musician, with his background of Arabic music, Shalan masters both genres playing and composing. Elements of variety of musical styles are unmistakably recognized in his compositions. Shalan also wrote and arranged music for a plenty of ensembles, singers, films and TV shows.
PAPIS DIOUF – “PEACE”
Papis Diouf “Peace”, was born in Senegal (Fatick) on 09/30/74. His approach to music at the age of 12 years under the guidance of his older brother Amdy, which began studying electric bass and guitar. Makes his first musical experiences in the group “Dental Africa” composed of young musicians of his neighborhood. Entry into the world of professional has been marked by collaborations with famous Senegalese singers, including Fallou Dieng and Alioune Mbaye Nder, with whom he played in various international tours. Peace is in great demand as a session musician in the studio, so as to have engraved on about half of the album of the greatest singers Senegalese.
Alaa Zaitounah, a musician raised in Swaida, Syria, first studied geophysics at the University of Damascus and was about to complete his master’s degree when he was forced by the war to leave Syria. Alaa started early to play the oud and was inspired by his father, who also played the oud.
Since Alaa lives in Berlin, he has given concerts throughout the city. Together with Abdallah Rahal he founded the band Musiqana, and together with the counter tenor Dani Alor he leads the hope choir. He also regularly conducts the orchestra of Dani Alor. Furthermore, Alaa accompanies the Begegnungschor Berlin, a choir founded with the goal of bringing together people who have long resided in Germany with refugees.
